A Yorba Linda man now faces a maximum sentence of 45 years to life in prison if convicted of the three counts of rape that he's been charged with.
Jason Ara Erpinar, 20, has been specifically charged with "two counts of using drugs to commit rape and one count of forcible rape with a sentencing enhancement for sex crimes against multiple victims," according to the Orange County district attorney's statement that was reported in The Los Angeles Times.
Yet in his pre-trial hearing on Friday December 11, Erpinar pleaded not guilty to all charges. He will definitely need an experienced criminal attorney in Los Angeles or Orange County, if he wants the best defense possible when he goes back to court. Erpinar is currently being held on $1 million bail.
Two of the victims that Erpinar allegedly raped met the man through the social networking website Myspace.com. The third alleged victim is Erpinar's 17-year-old ex-girlfriend. He was accused of raping the girl and beating her numerous times between August 2006 and October 2007. Erpinar is also being charged with a burglary crime that is unrelated to the rape incidents, where he allegedly stole a purse, wallet, computer equipment and video games from a friend's house in 2008.
In addition to the three alleged rape victims, Orange County District Attorneys believe that there could be more rape cases that involve Erpinar. Prosecutors are actively seeking the public's help with identifying other potential victims of the Yorba Linda man.
