Long Beach Boy Dies From Stab Wounds

Long Beach police officers responded to a 911 call last Friday after a woman was heard screaming at a residence in the 500 block of East Pleasant Street.

When officers arrived at the apartment complex, officers saw that a 7 year old boy named Felix Sandoval had severe stab wounds. He was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, but he died an hour later. His mother, who also had stab wounds, was also taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect for the case is Peniamina Tomasi, 30, who lived in the apartment with the mother and boy. He was booked on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He is currently being held at Long Beach City Jail without bail, according to The Los Angeles Times.

A Los Angeles criminal defense attorney might argue that Tomasi deserves a lenient sentence if convicted, but those who value the lives of children will say that Tomasi should have life in prison without the possibility of parole. The man allegedly killed a seven year old boy and attempted to kill his mother. Investigators are still looking into the motive behind the murder.

Tomasi was living with Sandoval and his mother. The Los Angeles Times reports that he had two children with the mother, three children of his own, and the mother also had three children of her own. Eight children were living in the house together. The seven unharmed children, whose ages ranged from 4 months to 10 years, were taken into custody by the Department of Children and Family Services. Long Beach police detectives ask that anybody with more information about the
incident, call 562-570-7244.
