Many people in the Beverly Hills Community are shocked by the fatal stabbing on Tuesday of the son of Japanese filmmaker Fuminori Hayashida. The Los Angeles Times reports that the killing marks only the third homicide that has been reported in Beverly Hills since 2007 and the only homicide to be reported within two miles of the Trousdale neighborhood during this same time period.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has charged 23-year-old Scott Joe Barker and 20-year-old Chie Alexandra Coggins Johnson with a single count of murder in connection to the slaying of Katsutoshi Tony Takazato, who was found dead this week in front of his father's estate on Carla Ridge. Mourners have since left flowers and candles along the front security gate of the victim's home.

Katsutoshi Tony Takazato is the son of Fuminori Hayashida, who produced several movies in the 1990s including "Lured Innocence" and "No Strings Attached."

It's still not exactly clear of what led to the murder of Fuminori Hayashida's son, but the Los Angeles Times states that Chie Johnson had a past relationship with the victim, but the young woman is now dating Scott Barker. The two went into the victim's home on Tuesday, where Scott Barker allegedly stabbed the man multiple times. Authorities believe the suspect became enraged once he learned that Katsutoshi Tony Takazato may have physically abused her.

The two suspects now remain in jail on $1 million bail and are expected to make their first court appearance next week in Beverly Hills. Because of the severity of murder crimes, they'll each need their own Los Angeles criminal defense attorneys to ensure that their legal rights are being protected throughout the case. They each face life in prison if convicted of murder.
